Dublin-based Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCÉ) is the largest non-profit group involved in the preservation and promotion of Irish traditional music and culture. Started in 1951, CCÉ now has branches all over the world. The O’Neill-Malcom Branch primarily serves the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

In Irish, we say fáilte roimh.

And we mean it most sincerely, as we invite you learn about the O’Neill-Malcom branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCÉ).

Our non-profit organization is part of a global organization devoted to Irish traditional music and culture. Throughout the year, we sponsor a great number of events, celebrating the talents of our branch members as well as enjoying guest performers and teachers from other communities.

Consider our branch of the CCÉ to be your gateway to the world of Irish traditional cultural activities, regionally, nationally and internationally.

Among these events, which you are welcome to attend and enjoy, are:

Dancing
Our region is rich in opportunities for social dancing (set and ceili dances) as well as sean nos and traditional step dance. We conduct classes and host a monthly ceili which features live music (!), and can help provide information regarding local schools of Irish dance and competitions (feiseanna).

Music
Our branch sponsors a weekly Irish music session, and a monthly “tune teach”. Find contacts for traditional Irish music teachers
here on our site. Our concerts feature the most entertaining and engaging performers from the world of Irish traditional music – flute, accordion, melodeon, banjo, and bodhran players, and of course fiddlers, pipers, whistlers, singers, and more.

Language & Genealogy
Our membership includes several devoted, expert and generous scholars of Irish language and history. There are many opportunities throughout the year to learn and share these passions.

Special Events
We host an annual school for the traditional arts every July (MAD Week), with classes appropriate for all ages and skill levels in song, dance and instrumental instruction. If your bucket list includes playing a jig on the fiddle, flute, banjo, accordion, piano, harp, you have found your ticket to happiness! Every September, we host an Irish Folk Festival. Our annual calendar includes fabulous gatherings which feature music, dance, film festivals, writers’ forums, and more – all opportunities to share and enjoy. We are active in the annual CCÉ North American convention. And much, much more.
