Aoibhneas an Rince Irish Dancers










 

     Aoibhneas an Rince was founded in 1996 by director Denise Foster Fumagali and has been registered with An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha since 1999. The school’s name is Gaelic for “Joy of Dance.”  While every student is eligible to compete in Irish dancing, first and foremost, the school mission is to help each student experience the “joy of dance.”  The Aoibhneas an Rince Irish Dancers are proud to have received the 2004 and 2005 awards for “Best Dance School” in the Washington, D.C. St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
      Classes for ages 5 - adult, beginner to champion, are offered at our studios (Applause! Applause! Performing Arts Center) in Ashburn and South Riding, Virginia, and at additional locations in Burke, Purcellville, and Warrenton, Virginia.   Boyle School of Dance

  Broesler School










 
     The Kevin Broesler School of Irish Dance has been an active member of the East Coast Irish Community since 1986.  Mr. Broesler, a former national and world champion stepdancer and a featured performer at various concerts and cutltural festivals, is a fully accredited teacher and adjudicator of Irish dancing, qualified by the An Coimisiun le Rinci Galeacha.  In 2004, Kevin was honored by Irish America Magazine as one of its top 100 Irish Americans. 
    Currently clases are offered in Baltimore, MD as well as Rockland County, Fishkill and Brewster in New York.  The expansion of the school has ben marked by the success enjoyed by many of Mr. Broesler's former and current students at regional and natinal competitions.

Culkin School of Traditional Irish Dance
















 
    The Culkin School was founded in 1997 and currently enrolls more than 400 students.  With classes for students age 5 to adult, beginner to champion, the Culkin School is an active member of the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore Irish communities and participates in local festivals, parades and performances.  Our goal is to preserve the unique tradition of Irish dance and music and pass it on to new generations of dancers. While competition is not the sole focus of our school, we prepare our students who wish to compete so that they can do so to the best of their ability, including our own Feis Culkin held each November.  If a dancer chooses not to compete, we provide many opportunities for them to utilize the skills they have learned by participating in ceilis and/or performances scheduled throughout the year.
    The Culkin School of Traditional Irish Dance is fortunate to have a large and experienced teaching staff in the Washington/Baltimore area.  With more than 130 years of combined experience and four certified TCRGs, our staff ensures that each student receives individual attention and instruction.   Certified Instructors: Sean Culkin (TCRG), Nicki Elliott (TCRG) and certified Adjudicator, Caterina Earle (TCRG) and Bridget Launi (TCRG).

  The Duffy School of Dance












 

Erin Louise Duffy, TCRG, 25, began dancing at the age of eight under the instruction of Margaret Prendergast Moebus, TCRG, as part of the Prendergast School of Irish Dance. She obtained her TCRG teaching certification from An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha (the Irish Dancing Commission) in 2004. 

Their mission is to provide a positive,friendly environment in which our students can not only learn about Irish dance, music, and culture, but also develop self-esteem, confidence, and lasting friendships. While much of Irish Step Dance is individual in nature, we encourage a team atmosphere in which dancers support each other as they strive for a common goal. Join them!

  Maple School of Irish Dance















 
    The Maple School of Irish Dancing is directed by Bill Maple and Marnie O'Callaghan-Maple. Bill, the 1982 North American Senior Men's Champion and World Championship step dancer and Marnie, also a World Championship dancer, are accredited teachers of Irish dancing with An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha, in Ireland. Bill is also a certified adjudicator of Irish Dancing (ADCRG).
     Dancers from the Maple School have competed successfully at US Southern Region, US National and World Championship competitions. In 2001, the school was honored to perform at the White House for US President Bush and Irish Prime Minister, Bertie Ahearn.  They have also performed at the Kennedy Center, the Smithsonian, National Geographic, Wolf Trap, on Fox 5 Morning News, and at various cultural festivals.
     Maple School Dancers have also appeared in the Celtic theatrical performance presented at the Lisner Auditorium with the Washington Revels and the Trinity Irish Dance Company.   The O'Neill-James School of Irish Dancing

 

 

 

 








 

     The O'Neill-James School of Irish Dancing was founded in the Fall of 1969. The school is proud of its well-deserved reputation for quality and excellence. It is the largest Irish dancing school in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area and famous for its participation and excellence in the Saint Patrick's Day Parades of Alexandria and Washington, DC. The O'Neill-James School of Irish Dancing has trained hundreds of excellent students who have competed in the World Championships and performed before the Presidents of Ireland and the United States. The school established the Nation's Capital Feis in 1987 as the official Irish dancing competition for Washington, DC.    The school had the honor of sending 43 dancers to compete in the 2002 World Championships held in Glasgow, Scotland.
     Laureen O'Neill-James  is an "All Ireland Medal" winner, and winner of 263 medals and 25 championships. She was awarded her first medal at the age of four, as were her two sons, Freddie and Robbie, both of whom represented the United States at the 1983 World Championships in Dublin. Mrs. James and Freddie were semi-finalists on the television program "Dance Fever."
     In January 1995, Laureen was appointed the first director of the Southern Region of the Irish Dance Teachers Association of North America (I.D.T.A.N.A.). She is a registered teacher and adjudicator with An Coimisiun le Rinci Gaelacha, Dublin.

  Teelin School of Irish Dance











 

The Teelin School of Irish Dance offers unique opportunities to students interested in a well-rounded dance education.  Classes are offered to students age 3-adult at three locations across central Maryland: Columbia, Millersville and Timonium.  Our Columbia studio also offers an eclectic mix of classes in other dance styles designed to nurture the artistic development of our students.
   Maureen Berry, TCRG, is the Owner/Director of the Teelin School of Irish Dance, and the Director of the Teelin Irish Dance Company.  Maureen's enthusiastic love of Irish dance and her professional experience as a performer and choreographer are evident throughout both the school and the student-based performing company!
